Lineup #33

It’s gonna be May.

People often ask me how I go about finding / sourcing new music. And there’s no one answer – it’s a combination of things that also tends to change over time. When I was in college, I spent hours on Hype Machine and electronic music blogs like the Chemical Jump (RIP). I’m still obsessed with my SoundCloud stream that I’ve built up over the years, and scroll through it every day so I won’t miss a great post from the 200+ artists and sites that I follow. I also religiously read sites like Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and The Fader to keep up with what’s going on in the music scene.

But recently I’ve absolutely loved listening to what seems like millions of playlists on Spotify – both the ones that my friends (and friends of friends) make and the ones that Spotify makes. It’s a whole new way of discovering music that I can’t get enough of.

The thing is I spend so many hours a week digging through these playlists and saving songs into my library, I sometimes forget to go back and actually listen to all of the great music I’ve been collecting. So, I guess you can consider this week’s Lineup to be a little homage to some of the tracks I’ve re-discovered this past week, plus some brand new stuff and some old favs. You know, the usual.

Until next Monday.
